President Trump recently took Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden to task for saying he believes “that black lives matter” while doing nothing to protect what Trump termed “the most vulnerable black lives of all: unborn children.”
The remarks came in a speech in Atlanta, Georgia. Trump added that Democrats “support the unlimited abortion of black children, right up until the ninth month of pregnancy.”
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention records show that nearly 40 percent of all abortions in 2016 were obtained by black women; this is particularly dramatic when you consider that less 12 percent of the American population is black. Not only do black women have the highest abortion rate at 25.1 abortions per 1,000 women aged 15 to 44, but they also have the highest abortion ratio, at 401 abortions for every 1,000 live births.
At 236,919, black abortions in the U.S. outnumbered deaths from the top nine leading causes of death for Black Americans combined, including heart disease, Alzheimer’s and diabetes. Moreover, statistics show that black abortion numbers were 24 times greater than the number of homicides killing black Americas in 2016 at 236,919 versus 9,860.
Trump also talked about Planned Parenthood and its eugenicist founder, Margaret Sanger, who was known for her racist views and established the organization aiming to “exterminate the Negro population.”
Pointing out the stark contrast between this organization, that so many liberals embrace, and his own party, President Trump said: “Republicans believe that all human life is sacred. At no time before has there been a clearer choice between two parties, two visions, two philosophies, two agendas for the future.”
Meanwhile, Biden’s plan to repeal the Hyde Amendment, which stops abortions from receiving federal funds, would essentially enable women to murder their unborn children using taxpayer dollars.
The president also talked about Virginia’s Democrat Governor Ralph Northam, who suggested last year that doctors could opt not to resuscitate an infant who was born alive following a failed abortion if the mother and family wished.
He said: “But if you look at the governor of Virginia, he said, ‘The baby is born, and then they start to talk.’ I said, ‘Wait a minute, that’s not abortion. That’s not abortion. You know what that is? No, I call it execution.”
In some parts of the U.S., like New York City, thousands more black babies are actually aborted than born alive every year. And although abortion proponents might argue that black women are disproportionately less affluent than their white counterparts and therefore more likely to struggle with the financial repercussions of an unplanned pregnancy, these statistics actually hold true even after controlling for income. In other words, black unborn babies across all socioeconomic backgrounds are being killed disproportionately.
Earlier this month, a coalition of black leaders called out Planned Parenthood in a letter for “targeting” blacks for abortion while claiming to support Black Lives Matter. The letter was written by more than 100 black attorneys, pastors and elected officials to demand that Planned Parenthood acting president Alexis McGill-Johnson “confront the systemic racism of America’s abortion practices” and renounce Sanger.
The letter also pointed out that 79 percent of the organization’s surgical abortion facilities are found in or near black communities.
They wrote: “Margaret Sanger wanted to use abortion and contraception to cull minority populations. Ms. Johnson, your words about Black Lives Matter ring hollow while your organization perpetuates this racist legacy.”
Planned Parenthood has also been criticized by rapper Kanye West, who said that they are committing “black genocide.” However, this topic is not getting nearly the amount of attention that it should, especially among the black community. It is completely illogical to repeat the mantra that “black lives matter” while supporting practices and organizations that kill more blacks in this country than any other cause, and Trump is showing that he cares more about black lives than Biden by drawing attention to this serious cause.
